A Crown Solicitor is a lawyer appointed by warrant of the Governor-General for a particular district.  Crown Solicitors are responsible for the conduct of jury trials and appeals in the High Court and District Court on behalf of the Crown. 

Raymond Donnelly & Co was established in 1911 and has held the warrant for the Office of Crown Solicitor for Christchurch since 1914 and for Greymouth since 1984.
